What Is Tableau CRM?
Tableau CRM is a data analytics tool natively integrated with Salesforce products that help users make decisions related to the operations they run in Salesforce.
Tableau CRM receives large volumes of data from Salesforce products and third-party systems, transforms unstructured data into datasets, works out data models, and provides visual analytics and data-based predictions for Salesforce users.
Many Salesforce customers know Tableau CRM as Einstein Analytics. After acquiring Tableau, Salesforce integrated Einstein Analytics into the data analytics platform and renamed it Tableau CRM.
What are the main features of Tableau CRM?
- Data importing. Users primarily bring data into TCRM from Salesforce, but they can also do so from external applications, databases, data warehouses, and files using configurable connectors, ETL services, and APIs.
- Data transformation. Tableau CRM transforms raw data into consistent datasets by filtering and compounding it, identifies patterns in the datasets according to predefined business metrics, and applies advanced formulas to perform various data calculations. This process is performed in an intuitive graphical user interface. Users can also set planned data refreshes to prevent inconsistencies between source systems and Tableau CRM.
- Data visualizations. Transformed data is presented in interactive dashboards, lenses, and apps. Lenses are data visualizations that can either be saved separately or added to dashboards together with other lenses. The dashboards can be embedded in the Salesforce products’ UI.
- Extended analytics. With the help of machine learning algorithms, Tableau CRM provides users with descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive insights into the analyzed data. Einstein Discovery is Salesforce’s data science toolkit for providing extended analytics in Tableau CRM.
How are Tableau CRM and Tableau related?
Tableau CRM used to be a Salesforce product called Einstein Analytics. After Salesforce’s acquisition of the Tableau platform, Einstein Analytics was rebranded as Tableau CRM and incorporated into the Tableau suite. Those who keep most of their data in Salesforce prefer using Tableau CRM as it is still natively connected to Salesforce products, seamlessly extracts data from all over Salesforce, and delivers analytics reports to Salesforce users. Other Tableau products collect data from various sources and deliver visualizations without relying on Salesforce’s capabilities.
